EMS - Strength & Toning

Electronic Muscle Stimulation is an advanced technique used world wide for toning, reshaping, and firming the thighs and buttocks, in addition to maintaining muscle definition. EMS has become increasingly popular over the years with today’s generation relying more heavily on the convenience of technology. What’s great about EMS systems is that they allow you to supplement your regular workout program, without putting stress on your joints, lower back or neck and shoulders.

EMS works by initiating muscle contraction using electronic impulses. These impulses are generated by a device and transferred through electrodes on the skin in direct proximity to the muscles desired for stimulation. The Tone-A-Matic systems work by sending minute electrical impulses to the chosen muscle. These impulses copy the message your brain would send to the muscle to make it contract during normal exercise. Electronic Muscle Stimulation machines are ideal for today's hectic lifestyle. When time is limited and you can't get to the gym, you can hook up to your Tone-A-Matic exerciser in the privacy of your home or office while catching up on paper work, talking on the phone, watching TV or browsing online.

Tone-A-Matic Electronic Muscle Stimulation systems are great for physically disabled people to prevent muscle atrophy. This is because many of these systems include a TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) to help relieve back, muscle, and other chronic and acute pain problems. In addition, these medical devices are often covered by medical insurance. Please contact your insurance provider to inquire about this.

Professional athletes, physiotherapists and chiropractors have used Tone-A-Matic electronic muscle stimulators for many years, and have consistently praised us for our excellent product quality and customer service.

Tone-A-Matic Muscle Stimulation systems do not substitute for an overall cardio-vascular workout and a balanced, healthy diet. Use them at work, at the gym, while using a computer, or even while watching television at home. All machines are very simple to use and come with full instructions and pad placement charts, in addition to their own carrying case.

What is TENS

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is the use of a continuous, low frequency electric current (1-39 HZ) to stimulate the nerves for therapeutic purposes. It is a non-invasive, low-risk and highly effective nerve stimulation that reduces pain (both acute and chronic), discomfort and stiffness in different muscle groups. It’s like having a certified massage therapist in the palm of your hands!

All Tone-A-Matic units come equipped with TENS, which is ideal for treating muscular, tendon or ligament injuries. Our systems are used by Osteopaths, Physiotherapists, Spinal Injury Specialists, and by doctors working on the treatment of degenerative muscle disorders. Those with re-occurring hamstring problems, sore knee, week ankles or strained elbows can significantly benefit from the Tone-A-Matic procedure.

Along with conventional treatment and a good physiotherapist, Tone-A-Matic helps reduce rehabilitation time by helping control swelling and strengthening weak muscles. Used in conjunction with the TENS frequency, an athletes normal recovery time from injury can be shortened. Tone-A-Matic can also be used to promote recovery after exercise. Using a unit at a low intensity setting will cause the muscle to be flushed and help remove the toxins that build up after a workout. This prevention of damage means that the muscle recovers quicker and thus has more time for growth!

Easily Incorporated Into Your Workout Routine

Tone-A-Matic Electronic Muscle Stimulation exercisers should be used in conjunction with a regular weight-training program.

Tone-A-Matic is used on the muscles that are trained during that same day, about 15-45 minutes after the workout. It can also be used before training (to pre exhaust a muscle) and during training (to make exercise more intense).

In sports not requiring active participation in a weight lifting program, Tone-A-Matic can be used on a muscle group every day or every 4 hours.
